Basics[ | ]

As the title suggests Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms is an an idle game. With the addition of the Dungeons & Dragons IP this game is set to be a very exciting one. It will feature champions, monsters and gear from the D&D universe.

The game challenges players to assemble a party of Champions and master the art of formation strategy,” he said. “As players unlock new heroes, upgrade them, and collect unique gear they will reveal each hero’s special abilities. Players must learn how to combine hero abilities to beat ever more powerful monsters to complete each campaign. Idle Champions will feature many campaigns that will take the player on an epic quest throughout the fabled Sword Coast.

Introduction[ | ]

This guide contains some basic rules which will help you to progress faster. Not all of the concepts in the guide are optimal or will even stay true in future game updates, but hopefully they will help you get a "feel" of the game. This is also very much a work in progress, and more sections will be added in the future. If you see something missing please don't hesitate to add it!

When to reset?[ | ]

This is probably the most important question in the whole game. And here is what is recommended:

Rule of thumb: Each minute spent not progressing means lost gems, so reset as soon as you stop progressing.
Each 500 Icon Gems Gems mean an additional gold Chests, opening which can give you very substantial boost, so trying to maximize collecting them is very important. Much more important that trying to get 100 gems for completing a quest, for example. Because in time you spent accumulating upgrades for the Boss, you could get much more than 100 gems through leveling again.

Chests[ | ]

Icon Gold Chest
Icon Silver Chest
Chests are unlockable and will contain Gear and or Items and or Gold, which is dependent on your current level. There are Gold Chests and regular chests, Each can be bought with Gems or can be bought with real currency.

When to use silver and gold chests? Which kind of chest is better?[ | ]

  • Gold chests should be opened immediately, as they contain 5 Items, which can be either usable or Gear for your Champions.
  • Silver chests are better to be opened at the point when you are about to reset.
Silver chests contain lower tier Gear and Gold, which is why you want to use it later, since amount of gold you receive seem to be dependent on the level you are on right now.

Which chests should I buy?[ | ]

Usually a personal preference, honestly. But having a chance to get one or two very, very powerful items in a Gold Chest seem much better than getting ten mediocre ones. However the math could be different to see which is better in the long run.

Divine Favors[ | ]

Icon Divine Favor

What are they and what do they mean for progression?

  • Divine Favor (df, divines, favors) - whatever you call them, each divine favor increases your Icon Coin Coins find by 1% permanently, regardless of your resets. It may not seem huge, but it becomes very noticeable when they add up to the thousands or more. The amount of divine favors you get depends on amount of gold you earned in a run.
  • Torm's Favor can also be used to get permanent upgrades even after resets. Any Divine Favor used to upgrade your Blessings will stop counting towards your extra coins found.
  • Each Event has it's own Divine Favor. i.e. Torm's Favor does not count towards events coin gain.

What does it mean for your runs?[ | ]

So here's an example: Let's say you got to a certain level and are stuck. If you follow the rule of thumb from above, you should immediately reset. That means you will get some divine favors, and when you progress back to the point where you are stuck, you will have more gold. And not just more gold - more divine favors too!

To reiterate, the more divine favors you have, the faster you can accrue them on next runs. So don't hesitate to reset.

What is Freeplay? What are the benefits or Freeplay?[ | ]

  • Freeplay is an adventure or a quest type that opens after you complete one of the first missions requiring beating level 50.
  • Freeplay allows you to progress faster, because you can disable "cinematics" (dialogue) for it in game settings and as such, unless you aim to complete a mission, you should primarily play in freeplay mode.

Clicking[ | ]

Icon Click

Idle Champions is a bit different from most other idle games, since clicking is not very effective in the beginning. However, as you level and your divine favor value gets high enough, you will be able to get much more gold quickly, and that's when you will be able to one-click enemies pretty easily, allowing you very fast level progression.

Clicking also staggers enemies, allowing you to defeat some bosses earlier and as it can save you some time on difficult Bosses.

Formation Strategy[ | ]

z3ther's ultimate layout for level 75+

A few reasons, basically I think that Bruenor has one of the best buffs for the cheapest cost (although I have the Many-notched Axe Gear on him which increases his dmg by 700% so this might play into your setup), and putting him on the same row as Minsc is probably the best level 75+ damage, since he does area attack. Jamilah is also one of the best DPS for cost (double hit to clear enemies), so these 3 are my hardest hitters and the majority DPS for the team, and I usually use the others as buffs/tanks to them. I use Celeste for damage and heal buffs, Calliope for the buffs in front (although it sucks that she can't Song Of Protection 2 rows to the front). Nayeli for the massive buffs to the Champions behind her, and although she has one of the best tanking skills, I find her dps buff is better for my casual play. Arkhan has the buff that he needs to be in front with 2 Champions behind, but suit yourself. Asharra does meh damage, but has the human bond which buffs 2/3 of the dps middle column. Tyril for Moonbeam heals and all dps... Anyways, here's my formation:
